Welder - 2nd Shift

Remote Full-time
About the position

The position involves planning welding techniques and sequences for welding operations on complete assemblies, ensuring that enclosed or overlapping component parts are welded in the correct order. This is crucial for maximizing accessibility to areas that need welding and minimizing distortions and strains. The role requires proficiency in various welding methods, including gas, arc, TIG, MIG, orbital, and plasma arc welding, in accordance with established trade practices, blueprints, sketches, and both verbal and written instructions. The welder will perform typical operations such as welding structural and/or aircraft assemblies of various types and sizes, where extreme care must be taken to prevent leaks and cracks. The job entails welding parts and assemblies that require machining to exacting tolerances, ensuring uniform overall penetrations. The welder will also preheat their work using a torch as necessary. Additionally, the position requires welding of parts and/or assemblies made from light gauge material (0.032 inches or lighter) to heavy stock (0.090 inches or thicker). This includes working with stiffeners in assemblies that are difficult to access, performing overhead inverted welding where materials are sensitive to heat, and executing welds close to edges (within 0.25 inches) where the edge may be easily damaged. The welder must be skilled in handling thick stock where any imperfections in penetration are unacceptable.
