[Remote] Senior Mechanical Component Engineer

They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Component Engineer to support various engineering tasks for airborne, ground, and tactical platforms, ensuring compliance with program requirements and facilitating component selection and standardization.ResponsibilitiesUnderstand program requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) to determine program component environmental / characteristic application requirementsProvide technology insertion and parts selection/standardization guidance while adhering to business, component parametric, and environmental application constraintsGenerate and revise component drawings and associated verification data packagesPerform alternate part investigations and generate comparison matrices showing the differences and similarities of the partsInterface with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to develop component risk and verification delineationFacilitate component selection and libraries application through the coordination and generation of the program Bill of Material (BOM) in a collaboration toolsetPresent component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of design reviews for a programSkillsTypically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience with any combination of the following:Experience with interconnect devices, fasteners, or other mechanical-based componentsKnowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for use in military and aerospace flight applicationsKnowledge of Component MIL and industrial (SAE, NAS, ASME, ASTM) specifications and standards, test specifications, and associated QPLs and QMLsExperience with BOM (Bill of Material) development and management for developmental and production programsThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is requiredU.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearanceActive and existing security clearance required after day 1Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related science or engineering disciplineKnowledge of component failure modes by commodityKnowledge of component reliability process monitors and/or qualification methodologiesExperience with the use or adaptation of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products in a military systemDemonstrated experience with development, design and project level responsibility on systems or major subsystemsExperience working with external suppliers and supplier technical managementAbility to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level security clearance; current clearance preferredBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionLife insuranceShort-term disabilityLong-term disability401(k) matchFlexible spending accountsFlexible work schedulesEmployee assistance programEmployee Scholar ProgramParental leavePaid time offHolidaysAnnual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreementCompany OverviewRTX operates as an aerospace and defense company as it solves the hardest problems in aerospace and defense.
