Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Position SummaryAn SQA Engineer, under general supervision and following an established process, takes ownership of end-to-end testing of new and existing products. This role is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and execution of test plan and test cases to ensure our products meet requisite functional, technical, and regulatory requirements, and maintain high overall quality. This position works collaboratively to meet organization’s quality objectives and assists with continuous improvement initiatives within the organization. Additionally, this role may participate in mentoring Associate SQA Engineers. Ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual; has exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities; possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills; and is able to work collaboratively across teams, in a dynamic fast-paced environment in order to achieve positive results.Essential Job Functions:Work independently on small to mid-scale projects seeking minimal guidance from project lead and/or Senior EngineersGather requirements or specifications, and help project lead evaluate test scope, effort, schedule and planDevelop, conduct reviews and execute test plans and test scripts to effectively test game software and related solutions across multiple platformsDisplay proficiency in software test methodologies/ procedures, overall product development lifecycle, as well as key regulatory and functional areas of the productAdhere to business/ process workflows and closely follow SQA work instructions at all timesWrite clear and concise defect logs, and assist in recreating issues and triaging root causeTrack all major issues and assist with escalation as necessary to ensure timely resolution Participate in software defect triage and SQA Milestone/ hand-off meetings with developmentUtilize tools and databases for SQA functions and testing at an expert levelProvide input to the weekly project status report for each assigned projectProvide detailed Completion Report at the end of each projectActively participate and provide detailed feedback during root cause analysis of escaped defectsAssist project lead with project risk assessment, risk escalation and mitigationInterface with cross-functional teams effectively to meet organization’s quality and time to market KPIsOther Duties and Responsibilities:Assist the SQA Department on special projectsParticipate in department wide Continuous Improvement Initiatives.Maintain key contacts with upstream organizations that have a direct impact on SQAMentor new Associate SQA Engineers on assigned projectsActively participate in Design Reviews, Code Reviews and Triage meetingsQualificationsExperience working as SQA, SDET, Software Engineer or combination of education and work experienceAcademic and/or working knowledge of Computer Architecture and HardwareAcademic and/or working knowledge of Object-oriented Programming languagesAcademic and/or working knowledge of Operating System and Software Application ArchitectureWorking knowledge of real-time embedded systems and Client/ Server systemsProficiency in productivity Tools, Databases, and applications commonly used in software industryExperience with Casino, Online or Console gaming a plusEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferredRequired Experience:2 - 5 years of relevant experience as an SQA, SDET, Software Engineer or equivalentKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Working knowledge or experience with Test Case Management Systems such as qTestWorking knowledge or experience with Issue Management Systems such as JIRAWorking knowledge of Software Development and Test methodologies such as AgileKnowledge or experience with python scripting language or C# is a plusMetrics-driven, detail-oriented, organized and focused on delivering qualityExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to communicate and collaborate with other team membersAbility to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environmentCapable of providing feedback and potential solutions to identified issuesAbility to work with limited or general supervisionVision: Close visionDepth perceptionAbility to adjust focusPeripheral visionAbility to distinguish colors Physical Requirements: Stand for long periods of timeExtensive time in front of LCD’s and Electronic Gaming Machine screensRepetitive motion to open heavy Electronic Gaming Machine doorsWork Conditions: The ability to move between projects with little notice and the ability to adapt quicklyOvertime and weekend hours may be required to meet project schedulesLimited travel may be requiredThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
