As a Senior Lead Database Administration expert, you'll be a key player in this team, shaping the architecture, security, and performance of our database systems. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage database systems to ensure high performance, security, and scalability. Configure databases in accordance with logical data models, creating database users with required privileges. Monitor database and listener availability, executing object DDL to create database objects and managing application database objects. Assist in debugging application performance issues, performing SQL query tuning to improve performance, and executing explain plans as requested by application teams. Provide application upgrade support for minor releases, assist in debugging application-related issues, and execute DLL for database objects with scripts provided by application teams. Manage database incidents using the Air Canada Incident Management process, providing response time SLA attainment analysis for reported incidents. Check top sessions and SQLs using more CPU and high IO, periodically checking tables without PK or indexes or having more indexes. Conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage, ensuring that our system is always scalable to meet business needs. Work closely with various teams to coordinate systematic database project plans that align with organizational goals. Propose and implement enhancements to improve the performance and reliability of the system, enabling us to deliver world-class services to our customers. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in database administration, with a strong background in configuring, installing, and maintaining database management systems. Experience with database design, implementation, and management, including data modeling and database architecture. Strong technical skills, including proficiency in SQL, database performance tuning, and database security. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues and provide timely resolutions. A customer-focused mindset, prioritizing customer success in your work. Knowledge of data archival and purging processes, with the ability to provide change success reports. Experience working with physical DBAs on software upgrades and fixes, following appropriate change management processes. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with application and physical DBA teams.
