[Remote] Software Developer Lead / Engineering Sustainability

Greenshades Software is seeking a Software Development Lead (Engineering Sustainability) to oversee the engineering health and stability of their product portfolio. This hands-on role involves managing a team of engineers while engaging directly with code, focusing on reliability, technical debt reduction, and AI-driven engineering practices.ResponsibilitiesAI-First Operating Approach: Establish, model, and continuously evolve an AI-driven approach across the team's entire workflow — from triage and diagnosis to code review and documentation. Every member of this team is expected to use AI tools as a core part of their daily workLead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers responsible for the reliability and maintainability of products across the Greenshades portfolioServe as technical lead and primary contributor on complex stability improvements, root cause analysis, and high-impact production issuesOwn the prioritization and execution of the reliability backlog across the entire product portfolio — production defects, technical debt, dependency upgrades, and platform stability workPartner with Product, QA, and other engineering teams to triage incoming issues, assess severity, and ensure timely resolution in line with SLAs and business prioritiesDefine and enforce engineering standards and best practices that improve long-term maintainability and reduce recurring issues across teamsDrive continuous-improvement initiatives — code quality reviews, dependency audits, performance monitoring, and documentation — to proactively reduce operational burdenReport regularly to the CTO on team velocity, backlog health, and product reliability metricsRecruit, onboard, and develop engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, urgency, and technical excellenceOther duties as assignedSkills6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical lead or engineering management roleHands-on experience using LLM-powered tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation, with a demonstrated AI-first approach to engineering workProven ability to coach and uplift a team in adopting AI tools and workflows — not just use them individuallyDemonstrated experience hiring, developing, and managing the performance of engineersStrong proficiency in one or more core technologies: C#/.NET, Angular, SQL Server, or comparable stacksExperience maintaining or supporting large, multi-product software portfolios in a production environmentProven ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviewExperience managing and prioritizing a high-volume backlog across competing product lines and stakeholder needsStrong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to report clearly to senior leadership on team health, delivery, and AI-driven productivityTrack record of building and developing high-performing engineering teamsComfort working across codebases at varying levels of maturity, including legacy systems and modern cloud-native applicationsCompany OverviewGreenshades Software provides payroll, human resources, benefits admininstration, and labor management services.
