As a Senior Engineer, you will build, manage, and enhance shopper payments systems and compliance services, working closely with a team to design, develop, and maintain application code in a microservices architecture.ResponsibilitiesBuild, manage, and enhance shopper payments systems and compliance services powered by Geo spatial foundation capabilitiesDesign, develop, test, deploy and maintain application code using Golang, Python, Redis, Postgres, and Kafka in a microservices architectureWork with product and operation teams to solve different challenges in market clearance, supply chain, pricing platform, and any new venturesTake ownership of production services, ensuring their reliability and performance, and participate in on-call production support rotationCollaborate effectively with fellow engineers, product managers, and partner teams to deliver impactful solutionsParticipate in the design process to build efficient, scalable, and maintainable architectureDiagnose and solve complex technical problems and performance bottlenecks using dataDesign and implement tools that allow AI models to interact securely with backend services, ensuring the LLM has the right context to perform tasksSkills5+ years of software development experience with a programming language like Golang (preferred), Python, Java, or C/C++Experience designing, developing, testing (unit/integration/etc.), deploying, and maintaining backend REST API services with a strong focus on performance and latencyComfortable working with SQL databases (Postgres preferred)Actively participate in the design process to build efficient, scalable, and maintainable architectureExperience diagnosing and solving complex technical problems and performance bottlenecks using dataTake ownership of production services, ensuring their reliability and performance, and are willing to participate in on-call production support rotationCollaborate effectively with fellow engineers, product managers, and partner teams to deliver impactful solutionsSelf-driven and outcome-oriented – care about delivering value more than just shipping featuresPassionate about learning, mentoring, and helping others growExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExperience designing, developing, and maintaining systems that integrate with third-party servicesOptimized backend systems for latency, performance, and scalabilityExperience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) into applicationsDesign and implement tools that allow AI models to interact securely with our backend services, ensuring the LLM has the right context to perform tasksFamiliarity with orchestration concepts (Google's ADK, Vercel AI SDK, or custom orchestration)Database Literacy: Comfortable writing SQL queries and interacting with relational databases (Postgres preferred)Experience with Git version control, CI/CD basics, and writing unit testsBachelor's Degree or equivalent experienceGeo-spatial experience or foundation platform building experienceBenefitsEmployees (and eligible family members) are covered by medical, dental, vision and more.Employees may enroll in our company’s 401k plan.Employees will also be eligible to receive discretionary vacation for exempt team members, paid holidays throughout the calendar year and paid sick leave.Other compensation includes eligibility for an annual bonus and the potential for restricted stock units based on role.Company OverviewShipt is a grocery delivery service that lets members order groceries and alcohol from their local store for delivery right to their door.
