State Income and Franchise Tax Consultant II - Multistate

Deloitte is seeking a junior tax professional to join their Multistate Tax Services practice, which is the largest State and Local Tax practice in the United States. The role involves providing state tax consulting and compliance services, preparing tax returns, and assisting with audit defense for state tax notices.ResponsibilitiesPreparing partnership and corporate state tax returns and appropriate work papers with attention to multistate tax concepts such as apportionment, nexus, unitary filings, and flow-through taxationCoordinating with an in-house tax preparation team within Deloitte and reviewing prepared state tax returns on selected engagementsWorking directly with and coordinating with clients' tax departments on various tax projectsPreparing and/or reviewing estimated payment and withholding calculations and related filingsResearching state tax legislation for consulting projects related to tax planning and complianceAssisting with audit defense for state tax noticesSkillsAbility to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per weekLimited immigration sponsorship may be available1+ years' experience in Big 4 or large CPA firm experienceBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fieldOne of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing able to obtain: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam, If not CPA eligible: Licensed attorney, Enrolled AgentAbility to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serveAdvanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD and/or LLMPrevious Big 4 or large CPA firm experienceExperience with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysisExcellent research and writing skillsSupervisory experienceExcellent presentation and communications skillsBenefitsDiscretionary annual incentive programCompany OverviewDeloitte is a business consulting company that offers audit, consulting, financial advisory, and tax services.
