Remote Medical Billing Specialist (Flexible Hours)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Remote Medical Billing Specialist to join our billing team. In this fully remote and flexible role, you will be responsible for processing healthcare claims, verifying billing accuracy, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies and patients. This position is ideal for professionals who are self-motivated, organized, and committed to maintaining compliance and accuracy in a remote work setting. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies. Verify patient eligibility, insurance benefits, and coverage details. Correct and resubmit denied or rejected claims. Post insurance payments and adjustments to patient accounts. Communicate with insurance companies, providers, and patients regarding claim status and outstanding balances. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and payer requirements. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations. Maintain organized records of claims, payments, and correspondence. Requirements: Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management. Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Kareo, Athenahealth, Epic, or similar). Working knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers. Strong understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Reliable internet connection and secure remote workspace. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CPB, or equivalent). Experience working with a variety of specialties (e.g., family medicine, mental health, dermatology). Previous remote work experience in healthcare settings.
