[Remote] DevOps Engineer (Remote Opportunity)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mind Computing is seeking a fulltime, 100% remote DevOps Engineer to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable cloud infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring optimal performance, security, reliability, and cost efficiency through automation and DevOps best practices.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and implement AWS cloud architecture leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, ELB/ALB, EKS, and other AWS-native services, with a focus on scalability, high availability, and disaster recoveryProvision and manage AWS resources, including compute, storage, networking, and databases, using the AWS Management Console, CLI, and infrastructure-as-code toolsDevelop and maintain automated deployment and provisioning of solutions using Terraform and AWS CloudFormationImplement and enforce cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption at rest and in transit, network segmentation, logging, and compliance with applicable regulatory standardsMonitor cloud environments for performance, availability, and cost optimization using AWS monitoring and alerting tools; proactively troubleshoot and resolve issuesIntegrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines to streamline application builds and deployments, leveraging GitHub ActionsCollaborate closely with development teams to understand application requirements and translate them into efficient, secure AWS-based solutionsManage application deployments and releases with minimal downtime, using containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS)Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the projectSkillsBachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field5+ years of relevant experience as a DevOps EngineerStrong experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormationProficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system administrationSolid understanding of AWS security principles, shared responsibility model, and best practices for securing cloud environmentsStrong networking fundamentals, including subnetting, routing, load balancing, firewall rules, and VPN connectivityProven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelinesWorking knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) principles and toolsStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional development teamsExperience with the VA or other Government agenciesOne or more of the following certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – SpecialtyProven experience as DevOps EngineerHands-on experience managing containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools and practices, including GitHub ActionsAbility to obtain government clearanceBenefitsMedical/Dental/VisionPTO + Federal HolidaysCorporate LaptopTraining opportunities401(k) with employer matchRemote work optionsCompany OverviewMind Computing is a digital consulting firm that provides business consulting and technology services.
