About the position

The Project Specialist I position within the RTI Division at the Texas Department of Transportation involves providing project management support for agency research projects. The role requires coordination, research, monitoring, and oversight of budgetary, scheduling, and cost control aspects of research and implementation projects. Responsibilities
• Perform project management support work related to agency research projects.
,
• Coordinate, research, monitor, and oversee budgetary, scheduling, and cost control aspects of RTI research and implementation projects.
,
• Maintain ongoing communications and monitor contractual and procurement related issues.
,
• Coordinate with Finance Division staff to review and reconcile discrepancies associated with project accounting.
,
• Review project billing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental, state, and FHWA rules and agreements.
,
• Submit project billing to obtain reimbursements from FHWA associated with Research Grants and/or federal aid projects.
,
• Communicate with department or division Project Managers and vendors to clarify and/or resolve discrepancies in required documentation.
,
• Perform project budget monitoring and distribute information, status reports, and project expenditure updates.
,
• Review and coordinate documentation for work performed for related TxDOT Transportation Research Projects.
,
• Research various invoicing related issues.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, or a related discipline.
,
• 2 years of administrative support, project management support, project coordinator, contract management, bookkeeping, or accounting experience.

Nice-to-haves
• Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.
