Junior Staff Accountant
Seabrook Land Company is a growing coastal town in Washington, seeking a highly motivated Full-Time Junior Staff Accountant to join their central Accounting team. The role focuses on managing the accounting for the Seabrook Hospitality entity, including financial operations, payroll processing, and budget management, while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.ResponsibilitiesManage the daily financial operations and full-cycle accounting process with a primary focus on the Seabrook Hospitality entityExecute accurate and timely weekly payroll processing for the Seabrook Hospitality entity, including the reconciliation of hourly wages, tips, commissions, and salary allocations, ensuring seamless integration with the general ledgerMaintain the General Ledger, reviewing and posting daily journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivablePerform comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations (including bank accounts, credit cards, merchant processors, and intercompany accounts)Play a key role in the general accounting team's month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines and GAAP standardsPrepare, review, and distribute accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) specific to hospitality operationsPartner directly with hospitality department heads (e.g., Housekeeping, Maintenance, Guest Services) to develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets and rolling forecastsConduct regular financial reviews with department leaders to analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide actionable, data-driven insightsSpearhead cost-reduction initiatives by analyzing operational expenditures, identifying inefficiencies, and assisting in vendor negotiations where appropriateTrack key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the hospitality industry to help departments optimize their labor, overhead, and material costsEnsure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations and filings (including lodging, B&O, and sales taxes)Collaborate with the broader accounting team to continuously evaluate and improve internal controls, systems, and procedures to increase efficiency across the departmentAssist with external audits and coordinate the provision of necessary documentationSkillsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field1-3 years of progressive accounting experienceAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.)Strong experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and an aptitude for learning property management/reservation softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts to non-financial department headsA highly analytical mindset with a natural knack for problem-solving and finding cost-saving opportunitiesStrong organizational skills, a team-player mentality, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentPrior experience in the hospitality, property management, or real estate industry is highly preferredBenefitsComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan with company match.Paid time off (PTO) and paid company holidays.Discounts on Seabrook vacation rentals and local retail/dining.Company OverviewSeabrook Land Company is a beach town located on the Washington Coast that offers homes for Sale and rent.
