JOB SUMMARY: A Biostatistician I is responsible for a range of statistical activities. A Biostatistician I, working under the direct supervision of a more experienced statistician, performs assigned tasks related both to statistical analyses and statistical programming.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
M.S. or equivalent degree in statistics, or related field
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Possess attention to detail, accuracy, initiative, and excellent communication skills
Able to juggle several complex tasks simultaneously
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Responsibilities include a variety of statistical and programming activities, for instance:
Analyzing data, including writing code using SAS or other statistical programs
Preparing graphs, tables, and listings with in-house macros when appropriate
Creating and auditing analysis programs
Performing biostatistical analyses under the supervision of more senior staff
Programming analysis datasets with guidance
Remaining abreast of current advances in biostatistics relevant to DMC work
Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
