Â Â Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment
• Reads job order; observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
• Disassembles, overhauls, repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, or replaces parts...
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
• Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices Lubricates and cleans parts
• Starts devices to test their performance
• Mends damaged body parts by hammering out or filling in dents and bodywork, including painting
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices and makes adjustments.
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
• Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings
• Heavy work, lifting/moving up to 100 pounds
• Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
• Exposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis
• Work outside in all weather conditions and on occasion at elevated heights; may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
• Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection
• Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
• Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses
• Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work
• Complete annual training and pass safety and track worker rules examinations
• Must successfully complete probationary period
• This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, membership is required
• 75% travel required
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Class B CDL required
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be a qualified welder
• Outside work experience
• Welding experience
• Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical)
• Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
• Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)
• Basic Math
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• May require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol
• Must pass all required assessments
• Must pass a background screening
• May require a medical examination, including drug and physical capabilities test
