Field Scientist - Londrina/PR

POSITION PURPOSE:

Coordinate and execute research and development protocols applied to crop protection in the Londrina (PR) region, building strategic alliances with researchers, project leaders, and key internal and external influencers. The ultimate objective is to generate robust data to characterize new chemistries and biologicals, as well as to provide official data required for the regulatory approval of these technologies.

The role requires a highly innovative mindset, with strong drive to improve processes, challenge the status quo, and consistently deliver beyond expectations, contributing to the advancement of Corteva’s fungicide portfolio. In addition, serve as the regional technical reference for disease management in key crops, providing expert guidance and knowledge to support integrated crop protection strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate new active ingredients, combinations, formulations, and application strategies, with strong emphasis on efficacy, selectivity, sustainability, and technical feasibility.
• Plan and execute field research and development programs throughout the growing seasons, working closely with the local team to ensure high-quality execution and data integrity.
• Coordinate and lead field work plan in alignment with project strategies and leaders - Principal Biologists and Regional Field Biology Leaders, to ensure scientific rigor and timely delivery.
• Promote an innovative mindset, continuously improving experimental design, field trial methodologies, workflows, and the adoption of analytical, digital, and artificial intelligence-based tools.
• Manage research contracts with public research institutions at the regional level, ensuring that investments are translated into robust, reliable, and decision-relevant data to Corteva’s needs.
• Establish active scientific collaborations with universities, research institutes, startups, and technology partners, fostering stakeholder engagement in product characterization, positioning, and validation.
• Represent Corteva in scientific forums, conferences, and technical committees, strengthening the company’s visibility, credibility, and reputation as a leader in agricultural innovation and sustainability.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of internally generated and third-party data into Corteva’s official databases, enabling informed and data-driven pipeline advancement.
• Maintain high standards of scientific and technical research documentation, ensuring traceability, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and adherence to Corteva’s global quality standards.
• Conduct field research studies involving new agrochemicals and biologicals in compliance with MAPA requirements, generating official efficacy reports to support product registration and submissions.
• Support and enable knowledge transfer from Research and Development to Agronomy, Marketing, Sales, and other functions, ensuring effective communication of positioning strategies across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy required;
• Active CREA is required;
• MSc degree in Plant Pathology required. PhD degree is considered a plus;
• Solid technical expertise in plant pathology, including disease biology, etiology, epidemiology, host-pathogen interactions, and integrated disease management strategies across major crops of Brazil;
• Demonstrated experience in applied scientific research for disease management in major row, specialty, and perennial crops, with proved hands‑on involvement in field, greenhouse, and laboratory trials;
• Strong analytical capability for experimental data analysis and interpretation, including use of statistical methods and data‑analysis tools. Experience with artificial intelligence–based tools is an asset;
• Advanced proficiency in English (oral and written) to be proved in the interview. Spanish proficiency (oral and written) is an asset;
• Proactive and collaborative professional profile, with excellent technical communication skills, strong planning and organizational abilities, and proven effectiveness working in diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
• Availability for travel;
• Driver's License, Category B.
