Experienced Full-Time Online Chat Text Supervisor – 988 Crisis Intervention and Support Services

Our 988 Crisis Chat Program is a vital resource for individuals in crisis, offering a safe and confidential space to connect with trained counselors. As a supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the program's success and providing guidance to our team of Crisis Chat Counselors. Key Responsibilities Provide individual supervision to Crisis Chat Counselors, ensuring they are equipped to handle crisis chats and provide emotional support to visitors. Monitor and assess crisis chats to determine the appropriate means of intervention, including risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation. Build positive rapport with chat visitors, providing crisis intervention and support to a wide range of individuals. Coordinate with emergency responders when active rescue is required, and ensure thorough documentation of all crisis chats. Respond to crisis chat visitors as needed to support Counselors on shift, and ensure that each Counselor completes 1.5 chats per hour. Conduct daily quality assurance monitoring of chats and texts, with a focus on achieving a minimum 75% quality evaluation score. Provide training to new Crisis Chat Counselors, and complete weekly quality assurance reports and performance evaluations. Meet with the Assistant Director of Crisis Services regularly to discuss program operations, concerns, and potential improvements. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work preferred). 1 year of experience in mental health services, preferably in crisis intervention services, suicide prevention, and intervention. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to function successfully in an environment requiring immediate response to urgent situations. Knowledge of and familiarity with local and statewide community resources, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills. Computer skills with various software, including Microsoft Products, and proficiency in using technology, including telephones, computers, laptops, software, and email. Preferred Qualifications Experience in supervision and leadership roles. Familiarity with crisis intervention models and best practices. Experience working with diverse populations and providing culturally sensitive support. Skills and Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with confidence, as well as lead a team of professionals. Flexibility and adaptability in responding to varying situations and coverage needs. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments. Training and Development As a supervisor, you will receive approximately 48 hours of training related to active listening skills, suicide prevention practices, and utilization of agency resources. The first 6 weeks of training are mandatory, including 1 week of virtual training and 5 weeks of on-site training in Columbia, Maryland. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits blithequark offers a comprehensive compensation package, including: Competitive salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
