Clinical Variant Scientist - Fully Remote (Mayo Clinic)
About the position Responsibilities • Evaluate germline next-generation test results for patients. • Classify genetic variants utilizing ACMG 2015 guidelines. • Summarize pertinent data for patient reports. • Utilize additional relevant guidelines for variant evaluation. • Work independently in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment to meet turn-around-time requirements. Requirements • M.S., PhD, or equivalent in Genetic Counseling, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field. • Experience in germline variant interpretation is required. • Working knowledge of ACMG Variant Classification Guidelines. • Strong background in molecular genetics, human genetics, or related medical specialties. • Good understanding of sequencing technologies (Sanger and next generation sequencing). • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. • Computer skills appropriate for laboratory practice.
