VMware / Nutanix Administrator / Engineer (Remote)

Job Title: VMware / Nutanix Administrator / Engineer Location: [New York/EST /Remote] Employment Type: Contract Visa : Independent (USC) Experience: 6 9 Years Job Summary: • We are seeking an experienced VMware / Nutanix Administrator or Engineer with 6 9 years of hands-on experience in managing enterprise virtualization environments. The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi and Nutanix AHV / Prism, along with sound knowledge of storage, networking, backup, and automation processes. This role involves maintaining, optimizing, and securing the organization's virtual infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and performance. Primary Skills: • VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi installation, configuration, and administration • Nutanix AHV, Prism Element, and Prism Central management and operations • vSAN / Nutanix Storage configuration and optimization • VM provisioning, migration (vMotion), snapshot management, and performance tuning • Disaster Recovery (DR) and Backup tools such as Veeam, Zerto, or Commvault • Infrastructure monitoring and capacity planning • Scripting/Automation using PowerCLI, Bash, or Python Key Responsibilities: • Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware and Nutanix virtualized environments. • Perform day-to-day management, performance monitoring, and issue resolution. • Manage cluster configurations, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle operations. • Plan and execute VM migrations, storage expansions, and disaster recovery testing. • Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams for infrastructure integration. • Ensure security hardening and compliance with IT policies and standards. • Maintain detailed system documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks. • Automate administrative tasks to improve efficiency and reliability. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. • 6 9 years of relevant experience in VMware and Nutanix administration. • Strong understanding of networking (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, IP, Routing) and storage protocols (NFS, iSCSI, FC). • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems in virtualized environments. • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Certifications: • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) • Knowledge of hybrid cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform). • Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible or Nutanix Calm.
