Title Insurance Underwriter

Overview: This position is responsible for underwriting all Title Insurance orders at an advanced level of complexity. Makes independent decisions when addressing unusual underwriting issues. Sources and verifies accuracy of all associated documentation. Supports operations by answering inquiries, resolving complex issues, and serving as a resource on underwriting procedures. May provide guidance to other associates in the work group. Assists with any administrative, clerical, or reporting needs that are required to facilitate the workflow in the title agency. Responsibilities:
• Underwriting - Underwrites title insurance property reports from clients using agency processes, underwriting procedures, and guidelines. Reviews for proper documentation including the property owner status, outstanding deeds of trust, judgments, tax value, and other issues affecting title.
• Title Review - Determines if there is sufficient information for underwriting purposes, and seeks clarification or further documentation from the appropriate party.
• Support - Answers inquiries and resolves issues regarding file status and title procedures from clients, associates, and outside parties. Responsible for an advanced production rate and escalated support matters. Assists with administrative, clerical, or reporting needs required to facilitate the workflow in the title agency.
• Subject Proficiency - Maintains proficiency and understanding of underwriting principles, applicable procedures, and agency guidelines as per regulations in multiple states. Utilizes knowledge to identify and address unusual underwriting issues that develop during course of work. Provide guidance to other associates in the work group.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Real estate law, or title insurance, or lending OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Real estate law, or title insurance, or lending

License or Certification Type: Title Insurance Underwriting License (multi-state) Required
