Technology Specialist, Core Systems Developer

The Technology Specialist role involves working collaboratively with a team to design and enhance solutions for the insurance and investments industry using various backend technologies. Responsibilities Be a part of a team of developers to design and enhance a wide range of solutions using a variety of backend technologies Recommend and implement system designs based on long-term IT organization strategy Work closely with business and systems analysts, and QA to develop alternative solutions to meet business needs Analyze production system problems and recommend solutions Investigate and solve production problems with minimal guidance Research and recommend technologies to the team and management to help keep our tech stack up-to-date Skills Willingness and ability to learn new ways of working and different technologies Proficiency in C# .Net (VB.Net acceptable) with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQL with at least 2 years of relevant experience Experience with SOAP and/or RESTful services High motivation to be a team player and ability to be a strong individual contributor Effective verbal and written communications, with an ability to effectively convey information, concepts, and ideas to others Hands on experience using testing frameworks (i.e. NUnit, etc.) is an asset Experience with ORMs like Entity Framework is an asset Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field Azure DevOps Developing and deploying CI/CD pipelines Experience with JSON and XML Azure Functions Azure SQL Unitrax ExStream Active Batch Ingenium Benefits Incentive pay Annual salary reviews Employer-paid benefits Pension matching Competitive vacation plus one paid volunteer day each year Healthy work-life balance with employee wellness always top of mind, complemented by a β€œdress for your day” approach Company Overview At Equitable, we believe in the power of together.
