[Remote] Fall 2026 Legal Intern, Criminal Law Reform Project
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The ACLU is seeking a Legal Intern for its Criminal Law Reform Project at the National office, which can be based in New York City or Washington, D.C. This part-time internship is for course credit only and provides an opportunity to assist in legal research and writing while advocating for the rights of individuals impacted by the criminal legal system.ResponsibilitiesLegal researchLegal writing, such as memos and portions of court submissionsFact investigationSupport in preparation for and during court cases, such as depositions, oral argument, hearings, or trialSkillsCurrently matriculated legal studentsBased in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internshipCompleted at least one year of law school before the internship commencesExcellent research skills, including conducting internet and legal database researchExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writingAttention to detail, excellent organizing and time-management skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteThe initiative to see projects through to completionA commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, and racial justiceCompany OverviewThe ACLU is an non-profit, non-partisan organization of people who believe in the power of action.
