Team Lead, DU Bar Success Program

Located in one of the nation’s most iconic and dynamic cities, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law has a long and distinguished tradition in experiential education. The law school features a DU Bar Success program for graduates of Denver Law to aid in bar preparation studies with numerous practice problems utilizing bar exam materials. The program features workshops, mock bar exams, individualized feedback, and coaching. We provide a team of writing advisers to provide comments for improvement (instead of feedback, we call it feedforward) on every bar essay and performance test submitted from our program. We also provide one-on-one coaching to help graduates keep on track and make the most of the learning experience.

Position Description

The Sturm College of Law seeks to hire part-time (hourly, non-benefited) Team Leads to advance the DU Bar Success Program through leading teams of Writing Advisers to manage quality and consistency of feedback and comments to graduates studying for the bar exam, including training and developing new Writing Advisers.

This is an hourly, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Work closely with and support the Program Director and Assistant Director.

Manage a team of Writing Advisers to complete feedback on DU Bar Success writing assignments.

Synthesize bar exam rubrics and program guidelines into actionable checklists for Writing Advisers.

Lead "calibration sessions" to ensure all team members are providing consistent, high-quality feedback aligned with program standards.

When needed, provide individualized feedback to answers submitted by students from mock bar exams and workshops.

Required Qualifications

A JD or equivalent legal degree

Licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction

Outstanding written and oral communications skills

Strong organizational and project management skills

Proven track record of success on the bar exam; a deep familiarity with the components of the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE), specifically the MEE and MPT.

Prior experience in legal practice or academic support where high-level legal writing and analysis were primary job functions.

Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically "Track Changes" and "Comments" in Word) and comfort navigating Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in law school academic support, bar success programming, or as a legal writing teaching assistant/adjunct professor.

Experience managing workflows, organizing educational materials, or conducting quality assurance reviews in a professional or academic setting.

Licensed to practice law in Colorado

Work Schedule

Hours are flexible and could accommodate remote work.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for this position is $100.00
