Job Overview
The Switcher I is a critical role that plays a key part in the success of our warehouse operations. As a Switcher I, you will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient transport of full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking locations in the trailer yard. This will involve performing inspections of trailers to identify any mechanical maintenance needs or potential safety hazards, tagging out trailers that require attention, and communicating any issues to warehouse management and fleet maintenance. You may also be required to operate a forklift and other Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) equipment within the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
Transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking spaces in a safe and efficient manner
Inspect trailers before transporting to identify issues of mechanical maintenance needs and potential safety hazards
Maintain organization of the trailer yard to ensure the efficient and safe transport of trailers
Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area and warehouse
Perform other tasks, including pallet building, as determined and requested by management
May perform duties other than switching as assigned
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong and diverse skillset, including:
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience
Valid driver's license
Ability to read, write, and use a radio
Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere while walking and repetitively lifting 30 lbs
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
Ability to collaborate within a team environment
Ability to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification, including Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, and Switch Tractor
Skills and Competencies

Attention to detail and ability to differentiate our packages
Ability to work while exposed to the elements and in a noisy and non-climate-controlled environment
