Staff Accountant

Classification: Salaried, Exempt

Purpose: The role of the Staff Accountant is to manage day-to-day and monthly accounting for the assigned client base. The Staff Accountant is responsible for all transaction entry, proper communication with the client, processing payroll through a 3rd party provider, and working with the Senior Accountant and Controller on reporting. Responsibilities and qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions:

· Communicate regularly with clients to ensure timely and accurate completion of data entry

· Record bank and credit card transactions weekly and resolve discrepancies as they arise.

· Maintain timeliness of client recordkeeping, ensuring there is not a lag of greater than two weeks

· Assist clients with adjustments needed to items and project ledgers to ensure accuracy and proper financial reporting

· Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly

· Prepare, review for accuracy, and file monthly sales tax returns

· Pay bills approved for payment by client

· Submit retirement benefits to 401k provider and ensure compliance with timelines and recordkeeping guidelines

· Review, process and record payrolls for clients

· Post journal entries to adjust the balance of loans and other various client accounts

· Perform data entry in company software and produce weekly reports for clients in order to provide clients with accurate financial status

· Comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations

· Assist with ad-hoc projects, research, accounting system implementations, and process improvement as needed

· Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred but not required

· Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in bookkeeping or public accounting role

· Experience with QuickBooks Online, Studio Designer, or Xero a plus

· Highly proficient in MS Excel advanced formulas

· Strong ability to problem-solve, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and provide attention to detail

· Understanding of fundamental bookkeeping principles
