Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SQL Database Administrator to join our IT team. The SQL DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our organization's SQL databases. This role involves ensuring database availability, capacity planning, installation, configuration, design, and migration of database systems, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise.

Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server database systems
• Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies
• Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity
• Manage database security, including user access controls and permissions
• Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations
• Create and maintain documentation for database systems and processes
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner
• Automate routine database maintenance tasks
• Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server (versions 2016-2022)
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
• Proficiency in T-SQL and stored procedure development
• Knowledge of database security best practices
• Experience with high availability solutions (Always On, Failover Clustering)
• Familiarity with database backup and recovery strategies
• Understanding of cloud database services (Azure SQL, AWS RDS)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• SQL Server certification (preferred but not required)

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with other database systems (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing
• Experience with database automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Python)
• Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with database monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, etc.)
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
