Specialist, Regulatory Compliance - Remote

OVERVIEW

Reporting to Senior Manager, Producer Compliance, the Specialist, Producer Compliance is responsible for supporting the administration and execution of Circular Materials’ producer compliance program. The Specialist is responsible for monitoring regulatory obligations, conducting compliance reviews, supporting audit activities, and assisting in ensuring producers meet their legislative and program requirements.

The Specialist is responsible for contributing to risk mitigation, regulatory adherence, and the consistent application of compliance policies and procedures across jurisdictions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Producer Compliance Support:

Support the implementation and ongoing administration of the producer compliance program.

Conduct compliance reviews and assist with audits to assess adherence to regulatory and program requirements.

Monitor producer reporting and documentation to identify discrepancies or potential compliance risks.

Assist in preparing compliance reports, findings, and documentation for internal review.

Support communications with producers regarding compliance inquiries, documentation requests, and corrective actions.

Track regulatory changes and assist in updating compliance procedures and internal documentation accordingly.

General Compliance Support:

Assist in maintaining compliance policies, procedures, and tracking tools.

Support cross-functional collaboration to gather information required for compliance assessments.

Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and follow-up actions.

Assist in preparing materials for regulatory reviews or inquiries.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Producer Compliance function.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Environmental Studies, Business, Compliance, or a related field.

Professional certification in compliance (e.g., CCEP) considered an asset.

Experience

3+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory support, audit, or related roles.

Experience working within regulated environments preferred.

Experience supporting compliance reviews or audit processes considered an asset.

Knowledge/Competencies/Skills

Understanding of regulatory compliance principles and risk management practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ability to interpret policies, regulations, and program requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with audit or tracking tools.

Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external producers.

Demonstrated ability to balance independent work with collaborative teamwork in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a home office environment.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

Expected Compensation:

An annual base salary in the range of $55,000 to $67,000

The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role. The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
