This role offers a competitive hourly rate of $16.00, with 6.5 hours/day (full-time) and 178 work days/year. Job Summary:

The Special Education Teaching Assistant - Middle School assists teachers in meeting the needs of special education students, enhancing their educational experience in both instructional and non-instructional activities. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment, making a positive impact on students' lives.

Responsibilities:


Assist with providing activities for a balanced program of instruction
Reinforce information following lessons
Work with students individually or in small groups in academic studies and basic life skills
Implement behavior modification plans and procedures
Maintain confidentiality and positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
Observe and record students' progress
Assist with hygiene and toileting activities, and sanitize classroom equipment


Requirements:


Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent
Associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively with children and function within a school environment
Knowledge of child guidance principles, behavior management, and classroom procedures


Physical Ability:

The employee will be required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Occasional lifting and moving of up to 100 lbs, and pushing/pulling items up to 100 lbs.

Work Environment:

Potential exposure to communicable diseases, physical injury from aggressive behavior, and contact with blood and other body fluids.
