Software Engineer- Open Source/ Open Telemetry Collection

Location (United States or Canada, open to 100% remote) Our team At Sumo Logic, we ingest petabytes of data every day and empower our customers by providing them with extremely reliable and fast tools to derive meaningful insights from their data. The Open Source/Open Telemetry Collector team provides the next-generation data collector built on Open Telemetry to simplify and streamline the performance and behavior monitoring of complex distributed systems. Responsibilities β€’ Design and implement features for an extremely robust and lean OpenTelemetry collection engine β€’ Write robust code with unit and integration tests β€’ Contribute to the upstream OpenTelemetry project β€’ Work as a team member, helping the team respond quickly and effectively to business needs β€’ Experience with CI and on-call production support Requirements β€’ B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline β€’ 2-4 years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership and delivery. This is NOT a new grad opportunity but this is NOT a Senior Engineer role β€’ Experience with GoLang or other statically typed language (Java, Scala, C++)...Willingness to learn GoLang if you don't have the experience. β€’ Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment β€’ Understand the performance characteristics of commonly used data structures (maps, lists, trees, etc) β€’ Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, solve problems and adapt to new technologies Nice to have β€’ Familiarity with the monitoring/observability space β€’ Working experience with GitHub actions or other CI pipelines β€’ A GitHub account with recent activity β€’ Contributions to open source projects β€’ Experience in concurrent programming β€’ Comfortable working with Unix type operating systems (Linux, OS X) β€’ Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes β€’ Agile software development experience (test-driven development, iterative and incremental development) About Us Sumo Logic, Inc. empowers the people who power modern, digital business. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, location, and experience.
