They sit at the center of how the digital economy decides who to trust. Their platform processes identity decisions in real time for thousands of enterprise customers, including the majority of the largest banks and financial institutions in the US, stopping fraud before it starts and verifying legitimate users instantly, at massive scale.
They're well-funded, pre-IPO, and at roughly 500 people, they're scaling toward 700 by end of year.
Why This Role Exists
They're building out their engineering org across multiple teams and need backend engineers who've built things that had to scale, stay up under pressure, and perform under load, every time, without exception.
This is not a maintenance role. You would own components end-to-end, designing, building, testing, and shipping on systems that power real-time identity decisions for millions of people daily.
What You'll Work On
ā¢ Design and build scalable distributed systems operating at high throughput and low latency
ā¢ Own non-functional requirements including reliability, availability, performance, and security
ā¢ Architect and develop microservices and APIs that are part of core platform infrastructure
ā¢ Drive engineering decisions and contribute to elevating standards across the team
ā¢ Collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-moving, agile environment
ā¢ Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of technical ownership and excellence
What They're Looking For
Senior Level
ā¢ 5-7 years of hands-on backend engineering experience
ā¢ Deep experience building scalable, distributed systems
ā¢ Strong fundamentals in concurrency, performance optimization, and reliability
ā¢ Microservices and RESTful API experience
ā¢ Self-directed and comfortable operating with ambiguity
Staff Level (same foundation, plus)
ā¢ 8-12 years of experience
ā¢ Demonstrated end-to-end architectural ownership, not just contribution
ā¢ Can articulate system design decisions, tradeoffs, and reasoning clearly
ā¢ Track record of connecting engineering work to measurable business outcomes
ā¢ Experience driving technical direction across a team or workstream
Languages
ā¢ Go/Golang is a differentiator, as new initiatives are targeting Go
ā¢ Java, Python, Scala, Rust, and C++ are all acceptable
ā¢ Pure .NET/C# backgrounds are not a fit for this role
Strong Plus, Both Levels
ā¢ Startup or high-growth SaaS experience
ā¢ Fintech, identity, fraud prevention, or security domain background
ā¢ Engineers who actively use AI in their day-to-day workflows
ā¢ High-throughput, low-latency storage and data infrastructure experience
