Senior Sales Engineer

About the RoleWe’re hiring a Senior Sales Engineer to lead the technical side of our sales motion—from discovery through demo and proof-of-concept. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, combines deep technical knowledge with consultative sales acumen, and can tailor complex data architecture solutions to each customer’s unique needs.As our first dedicated Sales Engineer, you’ll work closely with the Head of Revenue and CEO to shape how we engage with prospects. You’ll own technical conversations, build demo environments, and develop solution architectures that help prospects see the transformative potential of Nextdata OS.This role is remote but limited to candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area.What You’ll DoLead technical discovery calls and understand customer architecture, pain points, and success criteriaShowcase Nextdata OS through customized demos, tailored storytelling, and clear articulation of product valueBuild and manage demo environments that simulate real-world data scenariosOwn and deliver PoCs, partnering with prospects to prototype integrations and data product workflowsCreate technical sales collateral, including diagrams, solution briefs, and architecture overviewsRespond to technical assessments and security reviews, guiding buyers through integration and deployment conversationsCollaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering to inform roadmap and improve technical GTM assetsRepresent Nextdata externally in webinars, briefings, and field events as a technical voice of the companyWhat You Bring7+ years in technical roles (Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Data Engineer)3+ years of customer-facing experience selling to enterprise data teamsProficiency with Python, SQL, Spark, and familiarity with GenAI tooling and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)Strong grasp of modern data infrastructure (data lakes, warehouses, orchestration, governance)Familiarity with Data Mesh, data product thinking, and distributed data architecturesAbility to build PoCs quickly, with an eye for product impact and usabilityExceptional presentation skills: you can command a room, simplify the complex, and adapt to your audienceStrong customer empathy and consultative selling approach—comfortable digging into architecture and business contextComfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a bias toward actionBonus PointsExperience at a high-growth startup or scaling a technical sales motion from the ground upExperience with AI/ML platforms, MLOps, DataOps or developer platformsCloud and data engineering certificationsPublic speaking or thought leadership experience in data infrastructure or architecture
