Program Information:
The Multilingual Program Department offers Adult ESL classes for GISD parents.
Classes will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings from August to March.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Certified teacher with three (3) or more years of teaching experience
Bilingual certification or ESL Endorsement
Prior experience teaching English to speakers of other languages
Work hours will be Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:15 p.m. 8:00 p.m.
ESC teachers will attend the ESC Graduation, which MAY be held on the weekend
Special Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of principles for adult learning
Knowledge of instructional best practices for online learning
Flexible teaching style, open-minded, patient, and encouraging instructor
Knowledge of effective teaching and sheltered instruction strategies
Ability to instruct adults in an environment that promotes student engagement
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with others in a virtual or face-to-face environment
Ability to develop and supplement content-specific materials
Capable of conducting group and individual lessons providing differentiated
instruction as needed (virtually or face-to-face)
Strong technological skills
Exemplary attendance record (absences/tardiness)
