Why This Role Matters

In today’s data‑driven economy, the ability to collect, transform, and deliver high‑quality information quickly and securely is a competitive advantage. As a Senior Remote Data Engineer at careerzynith, you will be at the heart of this transformation, designing and maintaining robust data pipelines that power critical business functions such as product development, inventory management, finance, and customer support. Your work will directly influence the reliability of our services, the speed of decision‑making, and the overall experience of our end‑users.

Key Responsibilities

Data Ingestion & Pipeline Construction: Design, build, and optimize scalable data ingestion pipelines using a blend of on‑premises AWS services and careerzynith‑specific internal tools.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, software engineers, and business analysts across verticals such as Membership, Sales, Finance, Inventory, and Customer Service to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Data Quality & Governance: Implement rigorous data validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes to ensure data integrity, compliance, and security throughout the lifecycle.
Performance Tuning & Cost Optimization: Continuously profile and refine ETL jobs, leveraging best practices to reduce latency, improve throughput, and manage cloud spend responsibly.
Tooling & Automation: Develop reusable frameworks, libraries, and automation scripts that accelerate onboarding of new data sources and simplify maintenance for internal teams.
Code Review & Mentorship: Conduct thorough code audits, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior engineers on data engineering best practices.
Innovation & Continuous Learning: Stay ahead of emerging technologies, evaluate new data platforms, and propose architectural enhancements that keep careerzynith at the forefront of the industry.

A Day in the Life

Your typical day might begin with a virtual stand‑up, where you sync with product owners to clarify upcoming data requirements for a new feature rollout. You then dive into the AWS console, crafting a new ingestion workflow that pulls raw event logs from S3, transforms them with Spark on EMR, and loads the refined dataset into Redshift for analytics consumption. Mid‑day, you review pull requests from teammates, offering constructive feedback on SQL optimization and Python coding style. In the afternoon, you collaborate with a data science group to prototype a machine‑learning model that predicts inventory shortages, ensuring the underlying data pipeline delivers clean, timely data. Finally, you document the new pipeline architecture in Confluence, update runbooks, and share insights with the broader data community at careerzynith.

Essential Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines in a production environment.
Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts; ability to write complex queries for data extraction and transformation.
Demonstrated experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration across multiple time zones.

Preferred Skills & Technologies

Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM.
Programming expertise in at least one modern language—Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js.
Familiarity with non‑relational data stores (e.g., DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, or Elasticsearch).
Exposure to data‑oriented frameworks like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster for workflow orchestration.
Understanding of data security best practices, encryption, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Experience supporting machine‑learning pipelines, feature stores, or real‑time analytics use cases.

Core Competencies for Success

Problem‑Solving Agility: Ability to quickly diagnose issues, propose solutions, and iterate on designs in a fast‑moving environment.
Collaboration & Influence: Comfortable influencing stakeholders without direct authority, building trust across distributed teams.
Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to data quality, schema consistency, and documentation.
Adaptability: Eager to learn new tools, languages, and methodologies as business needs evolve.
Customer‑Centric Mindset: Always consider the downstream impact of data work on end‑users and business outcomes.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

careerzynith is committed to your professional development. As a senior data engineer, you will have access to:

Mentorship programs pairing you with industry veterans and technical leaders.
Annual learning stipend for certifications, conferences, or advanced coursework (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
Opportunities to lead cross‑functional projects, influence architectural roadmaps, and present at internal tech talks.
Clear promotion pathways—from Senior Engineer to Staff Engineer, and eventually to Principal or Engineering Manager roles.
Rotational assignments that let you explore adjacent domains such as data science, product analytics, or cloud infrastructure.
