Senior Mainframe Architect
Principal-level Technical Lead to own and drive the entire mainframe-to-AWS replatform delivery using Rocket Software Enterprise Server. This person will lead the technical strategy across all workstreams ā COBOL compilation, DB2 migration, shared services (MQ, Control-M, CDC, CFT), DevOps pipelines, security (LDAP/RACF migration), and infrastructure.
Required technical skills
ā¢ Rocket software Enterprise Server (Microfocus) Administrator. (strong ā ES, EA, ED)
ā¢ COBOL replatform / mainframe modernization
ā¢ Experience with DB2 (z/OS and LUW), data migration, Precisely CDC
ā¢ AWS proficient resource with (AWS solution Architect associate certification at least)
ā¢ IBM MQ or Amazon MQ, job scheduling (Control-M)
ā¢ Security: RACF-to-LDAP migration, KMS, Security Hub
ā¢ Architecture leadership across multi-partner programs
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Install and configure:
Rocket Enterprise Server (MFES)
Enterprise Developer runtime
ā¢ Setup:
Regions (CICS / batch regions)
File handlers (VSAM emulation)
ā¢ Manage AWS Components
EC2 (Compute instances for MFES)
EBS / FSx (Storage for files)
S3 (Batch input/output files)
VPC / Subnets (networking)
ā¢ Lead technical strategy across all migration workstreams
ā¢ Own architecture decisions and ADR documentation
ā¢ Ensure Rocket ES stability, COBOL pipeline, and DevOps
ā¢ Oversee DB2 migration, shared services, and security
ā¢ Present at workshops and SteerCo on technical progress
