Responsibilities
• Identify grammatical, typographical, and compositional errors in legislative drafts.
• Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and content errors quickly and accurately.
• Maintain consistency with the Code of Virginia's style and established guidelines.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of the difference between editing and rewriting.
• Ability to learn the specifics of legislative editing.
• Customer service-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Ability to work diligently, both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn from constructive feedback and continuously seek improvement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Technically savvy.
Nice-to-haves
• A degree in English, Linguistics, Journalism, Writing, Communications, Arts, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, including freelance work.
