SAP HANA Data Modeler (Contract / Consultant)

Job Title: SAP HANA Data Modeler (Contract / Consultant) Location: Remote or On-site (as required) Contract Type: Contract (Consultant) Duration: long term Overview We are seeking an experienced SAP HANA Data Modeler for a contract consulting engagement. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP data models, HANA Calculation Views, and enterprise data architecture. This role involves reverse engineering existing HANA models to support reporting and analytics, as well as migrating transformed data structures into a modern data lake environment. Key Responsibilities • Analyze, understand, and reverse engineer SAP HANA database structures, including tables, column views, and Calculation Views. • Develop, enhance, and optimize SAP HANA data models to support analytical and reporting needs. • Document source-to-target mappings, semantic layers, and data lineage. • Collaborate with business SMEs, SAP functional teams, and architects to validate data requirements. • Migrate SAP HANA models and datasets to a data lake (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) following best practices. • Design and implement scalable data structures in the target data lake to support BI, AI/ML, and advanced analytics use cases. • Troubleshoot data issues, validate data quality, and ensure strong governance across platforms. • Provide knowledge transfer and technical guidance to internal teams as needed. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAP HANA development and modeling. • Strong expertise in SAP Calculation Views (Attribute, Analytic, Graphical, SQL Script). • In-depth understanding of SAP ECC/S4HANA data structures and common SAP functional modules. • Proven experience reverse engineering complex SAP HANA systems for analytics or integrations. • Hands-on experience with data lake platforms (e.g., AWS S3/Glue/Athena, Azure Data Lake, GCP BigQuery). • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data modeling techniques (dimensional, relational, semantic). • Experience migrating data from SAP HANA to cloud data platforms or modern data architectures. • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with SAP or BW/4HANA. • Knowledge of data cataloging and metadata management tools. • Familiarity with DataOps or DevOps practices for analytics. • Experience working in Agile or hybrid project environments.
