Revenue Cycle Specialist | Epic & EMR Systems Analyst

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

The primary purpose of the RCS – Epic & EMR Systems Analyst is to analyze Accounts Receivable (AR) data to identify denial trends and drive process improvements. Expertise in Epic’s Patient Billing (PB) module and additional experience with other EMRs is critical for the functions of this role. The Analyst must possess proven experience with reporting tools across Epic and other EMR platforms. This role plays a critical part in enhancing revenue cycle operations through data-driven decision making and cross-platform reporting expertise.

Responsibilities

· Analyze revenue cycle data with a primary focus on Epic’s Patient Billing (PB) module, while leveraging knowledge of other EMR systems to support broader analytics needs.

· Investigate Accounts Receivable (AR) and denial trends by reviewing billing workflows and claims data to identify root causes and optimize revenue capture.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with billing, coding, collections, and IT teams to recommend and implement process improvements that reduce denials and improve clean claims rates.

· Develop, maintain, and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports using Epic reporting tools such as Radar, Clarity, and Reporting Workbench, as well as comparable reporting tools in other EMRs.

· Participate in system optimization and testing related to revenue cycle modules in Epic and other EMR platforms.

· Provide training and user support for internal stakeholders in utilizing Epic reports and other EMR reporting functionalities for revenue cycle management.

· Stay current with industry revenue cycle trends, payer policies, and EMR system updates to continuously enhance reporting and operational capabilities.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge & Skills

· Experience working with other EMRs and their billing/reporting modules is highly desirable (e.g., Cerner, Meditech, McKesson).

· Proven ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends impacting revenue cycle performance, particularly AR denial trends.

· Proficiency in Epic reporting tools (Radar, Clarity, Reporting Workbench) plus familiarity with reporting tools from other EMRs.

· Solid understanding of revenue cycle workflows including patient billing, claims adjudication, and denial management.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex data clearly.

Job Requirements & Preferences

· Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business, Information Systems preferred; equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may be considered.

· Minimum Years of Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as an analyst in revenue cycle management with strong hands-on Epic PB experience.

· Additional Certifications: Epic certification in the PB or revenue cycle module is strongly preferred, but candidates with equivalent EMR expertise will be considered.

· Other Skills: Knowledge of medical billing and coding practices is preferred. Experience with denial management software and tools across multiple EMR environments is preferred. The ability to manage projects and coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams is preferred.
