Retail Sales Associate
Job Summary
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Retail Sales Associates to join our team. In this role, you will be the face of our store, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive visit for our customers. You will assist with ensuring shoppers select the right product for their dog, up-keeping the store’s appearance, and contribute to achieving sales goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for canines, and the capability of independently managing store operations during their assigned shifts.

The Downhill Dog is an independent mountain town retailer exclusively offering canine products. We specialize in high-quality dog accessories, toys, and treats, while placing an emphasis on local vendors from Colorado. Our store brings a fun and upscale shopping experience built for canine enthusiasts whether you’re local, or visiting town on vacation.
Responsibilities
• Provide outstanding service by greeting customers and assisting with their needs
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales engagement
• Upsell products to maximize revenue on transactions when available
• Uphold phone etiquette when handling customer inquiries via phone
• Retain awareness of current promotions and sales to inform customers
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently for accurate transactions
• Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor throughout the shift
• Assist in stocking shelves and managing inventory levels on occasion
Requirements
• Ability to independently manage store operations throughout their allotted shift
• Basic understanding of canine products, reputable brands, and common dog breeds
• Capable to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when necessary
• Experience with cash handling and essential math skills to complete transactions
• Local resident or access to reliable transportation, arrival (10) minutes prior to shift
• Position requires availability during store hours from 10am-6pm, closed Tuesday’s & Wednesday’s

This role is fulfilled by an 8-hour shift on a basis of 1-2 days per week. We offer competitive hourly pay based on experience, with the opportunity to grow into a management role moving forward.
