Researcher & Economic Impact Analyst for Oakland Real Estate Case Study
I’m looking for a skilled researcher and economic impact analyst to produce a rigorous, data driven case study on the effects of a single groups speculative commercial real estate ownership in Oakland, California.
This project a pattern of:
•Acquisition by out of town investor
• Rapid tenant displacement
• Loan default and foreclosure
• Long-term vacancy or abandonment
• Loss of community-serving organizations
• One property ultimately becoming an empty lot after a fire
The goal is to measure and quantify the economic and social damage caused by these events and to build a replicable framework Oakland can use to evaluate the impact of absentee ownership in opportunity zone markets.
• Quantify economic impacts, including:
o Lost jobs
o Lost tax revenue
o Decline in neighborhood activity
o Public costs associated with blight and vacancy
• Compare pre displacement contributions vs. post abandonment outcomes
• Produce a polished, defensible report suitable for city leadership
