The Canadian Cancer Society is dedicated to improving cancer care in Canada. The research assistant will support the Health Policy team by synthesizing scientific and health policy research on cancer control issues into accessible resources and ensuring the accuracy of cancer information materials.ResponsibilitiesSynthesize scientific research:Compile and review health policy research on cancer-related issuesAnalyze and synthesize the results of scientific and health policy research to create plain language supporting resourcesEnsures references and other documentation is complete, current and stored appropriatelyEnsure CCS materials are accurate:Review Canadian Cancer Society cancer information material for accuracy and consistencyReview emerging cancer control issues on tight timelinesProvide assistance on expert consultations as neededSupport CCS teams:Connect with colleagues across the country on cancer-related issuesContribute to our culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging and equity (DIBE) by ensuring that all staff feel represented, valued, and heard across all aspects of their identity, including gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, and sexualityOther duties as assignedSkillsMore than 1 year, up to and including 3 years in a similar roleBachelors (completed) or master's degree (completed or in progress) in science, health science, health, public health, epidemiology or recognized equivalentAttention to detail with excellent organization and time management skillsStrong problem-solving and interpersonal skillsHighly motivated, creative, self-starterExcellent communications skills and experience presenting materials through verbal, written, and graphical techniquesComfortable in a fast-paced environment, ability to multi-task, follow up and manage competing demandsBilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred, with French being an asset due to the organization's nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regionsBenefitsPaid parental leaveFamily sick timeHealth insuranceCompany OverviewCanadian Cancer Society is a company that specializes in cancer funding services.
