As a VMware Cloud Engineer IV, you will troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, develop processes to enhance customer experience, and provide technical guidance to support teams.ResponsibilitiesEnable optimum organizational efficiency by taking a whole systems approach and thinking across boundaries to identify which polices/processes should be standardized and which should differ. Examine new ideas of solutions, methods, and products to ensure the potential and alignment with departmental and business goals. Be a technical point of escalation to the Cloud Administrators and Engineers within the team, as well as the VMware Operations Team; resolving complex issues, working in collaboration with partners across the business, as requiredLead cross-functional business continuity/transformational projects and customer engagements (both technical and non-technical), delivering key objectives for the OrganizationAdvise leadership in setting and executing technological strategies to ensure Rackspace remains head of industryProactively assess, propose, and implement enhancements to systems, problem management, fleet management, process improvement, reporting, product integration and customer infrastructureLead Workload/Workforce Management and Optimization related tasksReview technical training for all Rackers supporting Rackspace Supported Cloud ProductsCoach, mentor and assists Rackers across the businessProvide technical expertise underpinning communications targeting a range of stakeholders - from individual contributors to leaders across the businessCollaborate and share knowledge with other EngineersApply expertise to interpret complex technical challenges and recommend improvements to platforms, processes, and servicesSkillsBachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field. Additional related experience may substitute for the degree requirement8 years of technical engineering and administration experience with a minimum of 5 - 6 years of experience as a systems administrator3 years of current commercial experience as a Cloud Engineer working with a high-traffic siteExtensive experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter lifecycle management, patching, and upgrades)Strong expertise in VMware NSX (network virtualization concepts, administration, and troubleshooting)Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-region virtualized environments, including dependency and compatibility management across integrated platformsHands-on experience with VMware Aria Operations (vROps) including monitoring, alerting, policy configuration, and platform health managementStrong knowledge of Disaster Recovery technologies, including Zerto and VMware SRM, with experience in deployment, migration, and lifecycle managementExperience delivering complex upgrades, migrations, and platform modernization initiatives (e.g. vSphere version transitions, Windows to appliance migrations)Working knowledge of VMware Cloud Director (VCD) and understanding of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) architectures and integrationsStrong understanding of Linux and/or Windows operating systems in enterprise environmentsExperience with automation and scripting (PowerCLI or equivalent) for infrastructure management and troubleshootingExperience with configuration management tools (e.g. Chef) including node onboarding and lifecycle managementStrong understanding of storage technologies (vSAN, NFS, SAN) and their interaction with virtualized environmentsStrong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols within virtualized and cloud environmentsAbility to design, implement, analyze, and troubleshoot distributed, highly available systemsExperience working within structured change management and governance frameworksBenefitsIncentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentivesEquity awardsEmployee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)Company OverviewRackspace Technology® is the operator of the full enterprise AI stack from governed private cloud to AI inference and agents in production.
