This role involves shaping the user experience of desk phones and telephony devices, focusing on designing efficient interaction models for task-critical communication workflows.ResponsibilitiesOwn the end-to-end UX of Sangoma’s desk phone and device experiences, from interaction models to executionDesign for embedded, hardware-constrained environments with physical inputs, limited screens, and real-time expectationsDefine task-driven workflows for core telephony functions: calling, transfers, conferencing, voicemail, call handling, and moreCreate clear, scalable interaction patterns that prioritize speed, predictability, and low cognitive loadTranslate complex communication workflows into simple, intuitive user experiencesDevelop UX artifacts including flows, wireframes, interaction specs, and system behaviorsPartner closely with firmware engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and perform reliably in productionWork with Product to align UX decisions with real-world usage, customer needs, and business outcomesAnticipate edge cases, failure states, and recovery paths in real-time communication scenariosContribute to usability testing and iterate based on real user behaviorHelp drive consistency and usability across Sangoma’s broader device ecosystemDefine and evolve the interaction models, task flows, and usability foundations of Sangoma’s phone firmware and device interfacesSkills1 to 3 years of experience (3 years preferred) in UX and user interface design, product design, or interaction designYou are naturally curious, eager to learn, and motivated to understand how design decisions translate into real behaviorDemonstrated experience designing, task-focused, workflow-driven interfacesStrong understanding of human–computer interaction (HCI) principles, including cognitive load, affordances, and error preventionComfortable prioritizing clarity, reliability, and speed of use over visual expressiveness when necessaryAbility to communicate UX rationale clearly to engineers and non-design stakeholdersProficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similarExperience working in cross-functional Agile product teamsExperience with telephony, VoIP, or enterprise communications productsExperience designing for constrained or non-traditional platforms, such as embedded devices, hardware products, enterprise tools, or operational systemsUnderstanding of localization and internationalization considerationsPrior exposure to usability testing or field studies in enterprise or operational environmentsBenefitsExtended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision)RPP - Group RRSPGroup Life - AD&D - Critical Illness InsurancePaid Time Off BenefitsWork From Home - Flexible hoursEntrepreneurial work environment partnered with high growth career opportunities.Company OverviewEstablished more than 20 years ago, NetFortris has grown to become the leading provider of secure cloud communication solutions to forward-thinking, mid-sized and enterprise businesses.
