[Remote] Third Assistant Engineer - Seaward Services - Guam

The Third Assistant Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and operation of vessel systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and supervising engineering department members.ResponsibilitiesMaintenance and operation of vessel systems within legal requirements of USCG, FCC and other pertinent regulatory agencies. Participate in the safe operation of the vessel as required within USCG regulationsReport any problems to the Chief Engineer immediately. Understudy the Chief Engineer and be able to act in his absence. Perform all duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessel’s Third Assistant Engineer. Operate the vessel appropriate to the parameters of the IMO-HSCPerform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule. Properly stock and inventory the vessel’s spare parts. Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks when needed. Assist shore technicians as needed. Maintain daily logs. Make emergency repairs when neededMaintain a safe and clean engine room. Train new engineers as required. Ensure that performance and behavior of engineers meets legal and professional requirementsConduct drills with Marine and Non-marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crewThe majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with moderate to loud noise levelsThe Marine operation is subject to varying levels of motion, movement, and vibrationThe Third Assistant Engineer both lives and works onboard a vessel, on a rotational basis, generally for 56 Days on – 56 Days off (+)Other job duties as assignedSkillsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent requiredThird Assistant Engineer Unlimited Horsepower USCG LicenseSTCW 95 CertificateA valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)Have and maintain a valid U.S. PassportComputer literacy in Microsoft office softwareAbility to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to engineering problemsPossess and demonstrate superior mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and other skills exercised in engineering management of a large motor vesselDemonstrate appropriate management and administrative skillsUtilize proven training and mentoring techniquesPossess a thorough understanding of all-pertinent regulations and lawsCommunicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writingLogically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignmentsDemonstrate well-developed inter-personal skillsSet and achieve high standards of performanceDemonstrate initiative and be able to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraintsPossess excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skillsFive years' experience as Marine Engineer demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibilityMaintain compliance with USCG physical standardsAbility to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis; ability to work long hours each dayAbility to bend, rotate and reach frequentlyAbility to carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing upwards of 50 lbsAscending/descending stairs or ladders safelyAbility to manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform jobAbility to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vesselMust be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with jobMust be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel's station billSuccessful completion of in-house IMO-HSC Type Rating ProgramBe able to acquire and maintain a Secret ClearanceAccept Immunizations as required by Contract due to area of operation and/or nature of workParticipate in Seawards Services, Inc.
