The Systems Engineer will own the creation and verification of vehicle platform requirements, ensuring safety and efficiency in self-driving vehicle technology.ResponsibilitiesOwn the creation, documentation, alignment and verification of vehicle platform requirements at Waabi and define ways for how to describe and evaluate them efficiently and effectivelyBring an in-depth understanding of sensors, compute and actuators used in self-driving vehicles and drive an architecture with requirements that generate a simple yet very safe highly autonomous vehicle platformAct as a central point of contact at Waabi for specific vehicle platform requirements and related tests and communicate updates, progress and potential roadblocks to stakeholders at all levelsHelp drive Waabi’s safety culture through application of safety standards and methodologies in your area of responsibility across all supporting teams at Waabi including Systems Engineering, Hardware and SoftwareDefine necessary improvements for our highly realistic simulator to effectively verify most vehicle platform aspects under all required conditions and work with other teams at Waabi to get these improvements designed and implementedOwn the writing and tracking of tests and test executions in line with company project milestonesContinuously evaluate and enhance Waabi’s vehicle platform capabilities, look for novel approaches, identify and apply lessons learned and ensure a detailed and comprehensive documentation that is easily accessibleImplement tools and methodologies to streamline and automate the vehicle platform requirement processes where applicableWork with external partners on delivering a safe vehicle platform that has been verified and validated to support a strong safety case for the complete self-driving systemSkillsUndergrad required; Masters or PhD within an engineering discipline preferred3+ years of automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry experienceExperience with requirements-specifications and metricsExperience with executing complex vehicle test campaignsExperience with methods and standards such as ISO 26262, SOTIF (ISO 21448) and / or UL 4600Strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering and physics and basic understanding of vehicle dynamicsExcellent data analysis skills with modern tools such as Python or MatlabOpen-minded and collaborative leader who is eager to provide guidance and has the willingness to help othersPassionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutionsExperience with vehicle actuation (brakes, steering, propulsion)Experience in launching a driverless productExperience in leading small teams of systems engineersExperience in the automotive self driving industryExperience building software systems from scratchExperience in robotics or machine learningProficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysisBenefitsCompetitive compensation and equity awards.Health and Wellness benefits encompassing Medical, Dental and Vision coverage (for full-time employees only).Unlimited Vacation.Flexible hours and Work from Home support.Daily drinks, snacks and catered meals (when in office).Regularly scheduled team building activities and social events both on-site, off-site & virtually.Company OverviewWaabi develops autonomous driving technology and physical artificial intelligence systems for the transportation sector.
