[Remote] Staff Software Engineer - MetaMask (Money Movement)

They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical direction and execution of fiat-to-crypto features and infrastructure, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and ensure the reliability and performance of Money Movement services.ResponsibilitiesLead the technical direction and execution of fiat-to-crypto features and infrastructureGuide and mentor a team of junior and mid-level engineers (across backend, frontend, desktop, and mobile)Build secure, scalable systems that connect users to third-party payment service providers( and payments infrastructureCollaborate with product managers, designers, data analysts, and engineers from across MetaMask to ship cross-platform featuresMaintain high code quality through design discussions, reviews, testing, and documentationHelp ensure the reliability, observability, and performance of the Money Movement servicesOwn architectural decisions that affect revenue-generating user flowsPartner with mobile and extension platform teams to create unified, seamless money movement experiencesSkills5+ years of full-stack or backend engineering experience, including demonstrated success in a Staff (or equivalent) roleA track record of setting technical direction and driving impact across a team or organization — not just shipping individual featuresStrong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React Native and modern web technologiesDemonstrated experience leading projects across multiple workstreams, mentoring engineers, and making architectural decisions across web, iOS, and Android applicationsAbility to think critically about edge cases, system security, and failure modesStrong collaboration and communication skills, especially in remote-first teamsExperience working in agile environments with cross-functional teamsCommitment to clean code practices, testing, and maintainable softwareExperience in fintech, payments, or financial services is strongly preferredFamiliarity with payment infrastructure, APIs, and 3rd party integrationsExperience working on fiat on/off-ramp systems, DeFi, or financial infrastructureUnderstanding of Web3 fundamentals, wallets, and the MetaMask ecosystemFamiliarity with mobile-first development and cross-platform architectureInterest in performance optimization, observability, and long-term system healthCompany OverviewConsenSys builds Ethereum blockchain infrastructure and applications ranging from developer tools to enterprise solutions.
