[Remote] Staff Software Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Storm2 is a well-funded Series A fintech startup seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build a next-generation B2B payments platform. The role involves designing and building backend systems for a crypto-native payments platform, ensuring reliability and scalability, and collaborating closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build backend systems powering their crypto-native payments platformOperate backend systems at scale, spanning fiat and on-chain payment flowsDeliver scalable APIs powering money movement and financial transactions across both traditional rails and blockchain networksEnsure idempotency, reliability and developer-friendly integrationsBuild secure and reliable systems, able to process a high volume of transactionsArchitect solutions for complex challenges across payments, stablecoin flows, on-chain settlement, wallet infrastructure, ledgering and reconciliationIntegrate with blockchain infrastructure: smart contracts, custodial and non-custodial wallets, stablecoins and cross-chain bridgesBe AI-native and drive features end-to-end using AI coding agents and workflows (tools like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex), being in charge of planning, testing, reviewing, and implementation, all while knowing when to override and owning the quality of what shipsCollaborate closely with product, design, and infra teams to align system design with business prioritiesReview code (yours, your peers', and your agents'), mentor peers, and raise the engineering bar across the teamInvestigate and resolve production issues with a focus on root cause preventionSkills5+ years of backend software engineering experienceExperience building backend systems and services in Node.js and TypescriptExperience with relational databases (PostgreSQL)Previous experience and success building APIs that power financial or transactional systemsHands-on experience with blockchain development: integrating with smart contracts, working with wallets and key management, handling on-chain transactions, or building stablecoin/tokenization flowsDemonstrated proficiency with AI coding agentsExperience designing scalable, reliable and fault-tolerant systemsFamiliarity with distributed systems concepts (idempotency, concurrency, data integrity)Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teamsDeeper blockchain experience: writing and auditing smart contracts (Solidity), DeFi protocol integrations, multi-chain architectures, MPC or threshold signature walletsExperience building or operating high-throughput stablecoin or on/off-ramp infrastructureExposure to event-driven architectures and real-time transaction systemsTrack record of customizing AI dev workflowsBenefitsFull benefits and health insurance, including medical, dental, and vision401kFlexible PTOBe part of sociable and collaborative team, working fully remoteCompany OverviewStorm2 operates as a recruitment marketplace for fintech.
