This role plays a crucial part in translating strategy into execution and improving collaboration across the organization.ResponsibilitiesOwn the strategic planning approach for Global Technology, including calendar, standards, and leadership alignmentDrive clarity on priorities, tradeoffs, and success measures across GT and partner organizationsRepresent and advocate for engineering priorities in cross-functional and enterprise planning and operating forums with clear recommendations grounded in execution realityEvaluate planning effectiveness and continuously improve the process to reduce friction, improve clarity, and increase adoptionMaintain a trusted portfolio view of GT priorities, deliverables, resourcing assumptions, risks, dependencies, and operating healthEstablish and run portfolio governance mechanisms that keep initiative reporting consistent, outcomes focused, and decision readyPartner with Finance and People teams on capacity and headcount planning and hiring prioritization using structured, clear inputsEnsure leadership can quickly see what is on track, what is blocked, what has changed, and what decisions are neededLead execution for high-impact initiatives that cut across teams, including integrated plans, dependency management, and partner alignmentDrive delivery rigor through clear ownership, risk management, removing blockers, and strong operating rhythmsDeliver measurable outcomes by setting clear achievements, keeping execution signals current, and closing programs with documented takeaways that improve future executionShape executive agendas and forums such as GT Ops Review into decision engines by framing options, tradeoffs, recommendations, and closed-loop follow-throughSurface cross-team misalignment early and drive resolution through clear framing, customer alignment, and timely addressing when neededLead ambiguous, time-sensitive, or high-visibility workstreams on behalf of GT leadership, driving them from definition to measurable outcomesFind opportunities to streamline planning, reporting, and governance, reducing manual effort through tooling, automation, and responsible AI useBuild and scale repeatable playbooks such as templates, decision logs, governance standards, and reporting guidance that help teams self-serve and move fasterDesign and drive adoption of ways-of-working improvements, including decision rights, standards, and cross-org interlocks that reduce friction and increase accountabilitySkillsTypically 10+ years in business operations, strategy & operations, management consulting, program leadership, product/engineering operations, or related roles (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)Track record leading cross-functional programs from definition through measurable outcomesStrong communication skills and the ability to produce concise, decision ready materials for senior leadersTechnical fluency across the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices, with credibility in engineering discussionsStrong analytical skills and proficiency in working directly in data, including Sheets or Excel and dashboarding or reporting toolsStrong judgment and discretion to handle sensitive topics and ambiguous situationsAnalytical and structured problem-solving skills (able to synthesize qualitative and quantitative inputs)Experience in a large-scale, global engineering organizationFamiliarity with operating models (portfolio governance, operating reviews such as WBR/MBR/QBR, scorecards)Experience designing or improving operating mechanisms (governance, decision rights, operating cadences, cross-org interlocks)Proficiency with portfolio and planning tools (e.g., Jira/Airtable/Jellyfish) and dashboarding/reporting toolsBenefitsA target bonusRestricted stock units (as applicable)A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave)Company OvervieweBay is a global online marketplace enabling users to buy, sell, and auction new or used items across various categories.
