The Sr Manager - Technical Program Management role involves leading complex technology initiatives, managing project lifecycles, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance healthcare solutions.ResponsibilitiesDefine and own the end-to-end delivery of the initiatives, translating business objectives into actionable program(s)Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for multiple concurrent, complex programs, including planning, execution, monitoring and closing, utilizing established project management methodologies (e.g Safe, Agile)Define Project scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and senior leadershipDevelop comprehensive project plans (using Smartsheet, Jira plan, etc ), including detailed schedules, budgets, risk management strategies, and communication plansLead integrated planning across product, engineering, UX, QA, and release managementProactively manage delivery risks, constraints, and dependencies; provide transparent milestone tracking and reportingMaintain accurate PlainView (PV) update for the project team with the corresponding project and product attributesEnsure weekly time-tracking is reported by the team; facilitate review of the time tracking reports with the Leadership Team frequentlyDirectly manage IT Project Managers, including goal setting, coaching, feedback, and performance managementSet clear expectations for role maturity, scope ownership, and delivery excellenceMentor Project Managers and assess readiness for expanded scope or promotionBuild a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the delivery organizationFacilitate effective communication and collaboration among the project team, internal customers/stakeholders (e.g., Product, Operations, Clinical, and Business leaders), and external partners/vendors as applicableServe as a liaison between Product Owners, Development Teams, and external stakeholders to maintain alignment on priorities and objectivesProvide executive level communication on delivery status, risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategiesFacilitate governance forums, milestone reviews, and executive checkpointsProactively identify, track and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating to senior leadership as appropriateProactively manage cross team dependencies and project deliverables as per overall timelinesMonitor project progress, performance, and financial metrics, preparing and presenting regular status reports to key stakeholdersManage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification/validations criteriaEnsure project adhere to organizational standards, policies and regulatory (e.g HIPAA, FDA, ISO)Ensure required delivery evidence and artifacts are created by the team to support audits and regulatory requirementsCoordinate overall testing readiness and execution in partnership with QA, including UAT, regression, integration, and performance testingEnsure all testing requirements (including NFRs) are defined, tracked, and aligned with exit criteriaEnsure timely creation, review, and approval of testing artifacts (e.g., test strategy, test plans)Coordinate integration testing readiness, including external vendors and system dependenciesDrive effective defect management, including prioritization, closure, and root cause analysisDefine, monitor, and act on delivery KPIs, metrics, and dashboardsConduct post-project reviews and lesson learned sessions to identify areas for continuous improvementMentor and provide guidance to project managersContribute to the development and refinement of project management (Agile PMO) best practices and tools with in the organizationSkillsDegree or equivalent experienceTypically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience9+ years of progressive experience in IT project management with at least 3 years managing complex projects within large organization, preferably in healthcare, industry1+ years of supervisory and people leadership experience managing Technical Program Managers, Delivery Leads, etcProven ownership of delivery outcomes across multiple teams, programs, or value streamsStrong coaching, talent development, and performance management capabilitiesDemonstrated ability to influence Directors, VPs, and senior leaders through data and insightProficiency with project management software (e.g. Jira, Jira Plans, Smartsheet, Plan View)Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, waterfall, hybrid)Experience with risk management, budget management and resource allocation/time trackingFamiliarity with change management principlesExcellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesStrong executive communication skills, with experience engaging Directors, VPs, and senior leadersExpert level experience managing scope, timelines, and delivery commitmentsSolid understanding of technical architecture and product roadmaps to effectively support engineering teamsStrong organizational, time management, and prioritization skillsPMP certification is strongly preferredAgile certifications (e.g. CSM, SAFe) are a plusBenefitsCompetitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total RewardsAnnual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offeredFor more information regarding benefits at McKesson, please click here.Company OverviewWelcome to the official LinkedIn page for McKesson Corporation.
