[Remote] Site Reliabiliy Engineer (m/f/d)

VisioLab is an AI-powered self-checkout company for various venues, and they are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance their infrastructure reliability and lead security and compliance efforts. The role involves owning production system reliability, improving incident response, and driving compliance initiatives like SOC 2 and ISO 27001.ResponsibilitiesOwn the reliability, scalability, and observability of our production systems (GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform)Improve incident response and on-call practices (we use sentry, crashlytics, incident.io)Strengthen CI/CD pipelines and deployment safetyPartner with backend engineers on system design and operational readinessLead SOC 2 and ISO 27001 efforts end-to-end, from gap analysis to audit readinessDefine and enforce policies around access control, secrets management, encryption, logging, and data protectionBuild the practices, controls, and evidence collection that keep us compliant without slowing teams downAct as the point of contact for auditors and align infrastructure with compliance requirementsWork closely with leadership to embed security into how we buildDrive a transformation in how the team thinks about reliability, security, and complianceBring engineers along through clear communication, not mandatesCoach, advocate, and shape culture across the organizationSkillsHands-on experience leading at least one SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification from preparation to successful auditSolid SRE background: production systems on GCP (or comparable), Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CDStrong grasp of security best practices in cloud environments (IAM, secrets, encryption, logging)Experience working with auditors and translating their requirements into engineering workExcellent written and verbal communication, you can explain why in a way people rememberProven ability to drive change across an engineering team without formal authorityComfortable challenging the status quo and bringing others alongOwnership-first approach: you see what needs to happen and you make it happenCalm and clear under pressure, especially during incidents and auditsPragmatic, you know when to push for the gold standard and when good enough is good enoughBenefitsSmall team, direct access to the people building the productHigh trust, low politics, fast decisionsReal ownership over infrastructure that runs in live venues across 3 continentsRemote-first, with occasional travel to our Osnabrück officeSubsidized sport membership & other benefitsCompetitive salaryCompany OverviewVisioLab combines human-centric artificial intelligence with the responsibility of making data-driven decisions.
