[Remote] Senior Software Engineer: Trading Infrastructure
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Gauntlet is a leader in quantitative research and optimization of DeFi economics, managing significant market risk and growth for decentralized finance protocols. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their derivatives trading team, responsible for building and maintaining the critical infrastructure that powers their trading systems and product offerings.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Design, implement, and operate scalable distributed systems in production
ā¢ Build low-latency and streaming systems for real-time and near real-time workloads
ā¢ Develop data pipelines and ETL workflows for ingesting, transforming, and serving data
ā¢ Build and maintain application services and APIs used by internal and external systems
ā¢ Implement Web3 protocol integrations, including smart contract interactions and on-chain data ingestion via RPCs, logs, and indexers
ā¢ Apply SRE principles to improve reliability, observability, and operational correctness
ā¢ Participate in incident response, debugging production issues and driving root-cause fixes
ā¢ Contribute to system design and code reviews, maintaining high engineering standards
ā¢ Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and system understanding, while exercising strong engineering judgment
ā¢ Write and maintain technical documentation for systems and workflows
Skills
ā¢ 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
ā¢ Strong proficiency in Python, Rust, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
ā¢ Experience building low-latency or high-throughput systems
ā¢ Experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems
ā¢ Hands-on experience with Web3 systems, including interacting with smart contracts and consuming on-chain data
ā¢ Experience with streaming or messaging systems (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub)
ā¢ Experience with data storage systems (e.g. Postgres, ClickHouse)
ā¢ Experience deploying and operating software in cloud environments (e.g. GCP)
ā¢ Familiarity with containerized systems (Docker, Kubernetes)
ā¢ Understanding of SRE practices, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response
ā¢ Strong understanding of security fundamentals (authentication, authorization, secrets management)
ā¢ Previous experience at financial or trading firms
ā¢ Smart contract development experience (e.g. Solidity)
ā¢ Experience with workflow orchestration (e.g. Dagster)
ā¢ Experience operating systems with strict reliability or performance requirements
ā¢ Exposure to infrastructure as code or CI/CD systems
