The Senior Research Operations Data Manager will collaborate with operational and research leadership to develop and manage operational data sets and reports, supporting various teams across the organization. This role involves consulting on data requests, developing reports, and leading quality improvement initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making within the research enterprise.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with research leadership to identify available data resources and support effective use of operational and research reporting systemsPartner with operational leadership to understand data requirements and develop solutions that support business, operational, and research objectivesDevelop and maintain expertise in operational systems and data sources, including InfoEd, Infor, Velos, Monday.com, and related reporting platformsTranslate data requirements into SQL queries and present data in formats that support effective analysis and decision-making by leadership and stakeholdersCreate formal written documentation for dataset construction processes, including definitions and specifications for key data elementsDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure data reliability, consistency, and compliance with organizational standardsManage and enforce applicable data access restrictions, access controls, and data warehouse security policies to ensure compliance with hospital requirementsDevelop and maintain data marts and related data structures to support operational, reporting, and research initiatives across the Health SystemMaintain data logs and audit documentation while collaborating with research leadership to improve administrative and scientific reporting processes and identify innovative uses of operational data to support organizational initiativesSkillsBachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are requiredMinimum of 2 years of experience planning and implementing solutions in healthcare, technology, financial systems, or clinical systems environments, including conducting research using administrative datasets and SQL programmingAbility to manage and complete IT projects successfully and implement solutions within a dynamic, highly integrated organizationStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with staff at all levels of the organizationStrong analytical, creative, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of healthcare, clinical, financial, or technology systems and related data environmentsProficiency in SQL programming and working with administrative datasets for research and reporting purposesAbility to support process development, workflow improvement, and systems-level initiatives related to data use and governanceMaster's degree in applied biostatistics, applied math, computer science, computer/electrical engineering, systems improvement, or information scienceExperience with Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud-based analytics and reporting platforms1+ years of experience with InfoEd, Infor, Velos, and/or Monday.comBenefitsCompetitive payTuition reimbursement and tuition remission programsHighly subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance optionsCareer Advancement/Professional Development: Access a wealth of ongoing training and development opportunities that will not only enhance your skills but also expand your knowledge base especially for individuals pursuing careers in medicine or biomedical research.Pioneering Research: Engage in groundbreaking research projects that are driving the forefront of biomedical science.Generous total compensation that includes, but is not limited to, benefits (medical, dental, vision, pharmacy), discretionary annual bonuses and merit increases, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) savings matches, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources to support employee and family well-being.Company OverviewBoston Medical Center (BMC) is a 511-bed, equity-led academic medical center and a proud member of the Boston Medical Center Health System.
