Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer - Advanced Concepts
Our client, a leader in innovative product development, is seeking a highly skilled and imaginative Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Advanced Concepts team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to contribute to groundbreaking projects from anywhere in the US. You will be at the forefront of conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping novel mechanical systems and solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in exploring new technologies, pushing design boundaries, and developing proof-of-concept demonstrators for future products.
Responsibilities:
Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative mechanical systems and components for advanced product applications. Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Onshape) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings. Perform complex engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and thermal analysis, to validate designs. Build and test functional prototypes, iterating on designs based on experimental results. Research and evaluate emerging technologies and materials relevant to mechanical engineering and product innovation. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and industrial designers, in a remote setting. Document design processes, analysis results, and experimental findings thoroughly. Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and potentially external partners. Identify and assess potential risks and challenges associated with new concepts and designs. Contribute to intellectual property generation through invention disclosures. Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge within the team. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, design tools, and manufacturing techniques. Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and development, with a strong emphasis on R&D or advanced concepts. Expertise in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) and CAE tools (FEA, CFD). Proven experience in rapid prototyping and hands-on fabrication. Deep understanding of material science, mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong technical writing and presentation abilities. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and thrive in a fully remote team environment. Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python) for automation is a plus. Portfolio showcasing innovative design projects is highly desirable.
